In November, the students of the Wild Imagination writing group gave their end of term reading.They read from a collection of their own creation called Eight Stories, Eight Rooms: Tales from the McDowell House. Each participant in the group wrote a ghost story set in one of the eight rooms of the house. The stories were read before the Salmon House’s large colonial dollhouse that is a replica of a historic plantation house in Virginia.

Our Wild Imagination group for elementary school writers is in full swing. Last week we talked about the elements of a story. This week we will be building unforgettably fun characters, and creating surprise twists in familiar characters like this big guy:

The Salmon House Writers Workshop is a center for creative writing in the heart of Downtown Eugene. We provide after-school programs and private tutoring for elementary through high school students designed to inspire lifelong learning, love of literature, and creative expression.
New Classes and Fall Offerings
This Fall, The Salmon House will offer an Elementary Writing Workshop for ages 9-11. For details, click here. Registration Deadline is September 30th. Space is limited.
We will also be offering individual tutoring for both creative and academic writing for all ages.
